With the list of nominees out for the CFDA's, I was excited to see who is up for my favorite category - Menswear Designer of the Year. Nominees include: Patrik Ervell, Michael Bastian, and Simon Spurr. It would be horribly redundant for me to sit here and talk about how each designer is talented in what he does. They wouldn't be nominated for the award if they weren't. Personally, I'm rooting for Simon Spurr. His S/S11 collection was amazing, only be to followed by a F/W11 collection that had quirky spins on the classic suit. He makes menswear relevant for guys today.
His show has always been on my list of runway presentations I have wanted to attend. After receiving an invitation this past fashion week, I don't think I'll ever fully recover from not being able to attend. (My flight out of New York was prior to the day of his show). Regardless I wish the best for all of the designers.
